Job Description and Summary
Only candidates with proven field-based project experience will be considered.
This role will be based in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
We are looking for a Project Manager, Carbon Credit Development to lead the coordination, implementation and management of project development, carbon and natural resource related projects in PNG.
This role is stationed in Port Moresby and requires travel to rural area and forest environments. Candidates should be comfortable with extensive travel and overseas assignments.
The role offers the opportunity to work in a cross-border environment. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, local stakeholders and external partners to deliver projects effectively and take ownership of outcomes.
Preferred Background and Experience
Candidates without field-based project experience will not be considered.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in plantation, forestry, infrastructure, property development or natural resources sectors
- Proven experience in field-based or rural environments with hands-on project execution
- Experience managing projects involving multiple stakeholders, including local communities, contractors and partners
- Sound understanding of compliance
- Experience working in developing or resource-based environments will be an advantage
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Competent in spoken Chinese (Cantonese is an advantage)
- Possess a valid driving licence
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Project coordination and management
Lead and deliver projects from planning through to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets and outcomes are met.
- Field operations and execution
Manage projects on-site in field environments, coordinate field teams and make real-time decisions to resolve operational challenges.
- Budgeting and cost control
Prepare budgets and cost reports, monitor progress and implement control measures with regular reporting to management.
- Stakeholder coordination
Work with local teams, partners, contractors and consultants to ensure project plans are executed.
- Community engagement and FPIC
Engage with local communities to ensure informed participation, respect for rights and fair benefit-sharing.
- External liaison
Liaise with government, vendors and relevant parties to ensure compliance and maintain project continuity.
- Operations, quality and reporting
Manage operational procedures, ensure quality of works, and maintain financial tracking and reporting.
