Committed to reducing their environmental impact and transitioning to a sustainable future, CSC Steel has implemented a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) management program, which includes the implementation of ISO 14064-1.
Empowering CSC Steel towards Carbon Neutrality with ISO 14064-1 Verification
Recognising the need to improve the accuracy of their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions assessment, CSC Steel sought collaboration with BBC. This partnership aimed to enhance awareness within CSC Steel of GHG emissions management practices and strengthen their methodologies for data collection, monitoring, and calculation, with a particular focus on Scope 3 emissions. Driven by increasingly stringent environmental regulations and stakeholder demands for sustainability, achieving ISO 14064-1 verification became a critical priority for CSC Steel.
To help CSC Steel overcome these challenges, we provided the following:
- Employee training on Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management
- Consultation and guidance on implementing GHG emissions management knowledge in line with ISO 14064-1 verification
- Support in building their confidence to achieve ISO 14064-1 compliance through hands-on collaboration with the team throughout the verification process
The Solutions and Implementation
Recognising the importance of internal expertise for long-term sustainability efforts, BBC delivered comprehensive training on Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management. This training empowered CSC Steel’s team by bridging any knowledge gaps and equipping employees from different departments with the necessary understanding of GHG accounting principles and data collection methodologies. This, in turn, allowed them to actively participate in the implementation process.
Following the training, BBC’s role transitioned to ensuring that CSC Steel’s GHG management program adhered to the stringent requirements of the ISO 14064-1 standard. We achieved this through a combination of knowledge transfer gained from hands-on experience throughout the implementation process.
Finally, to instill confidence and ensure preparedness for the external verification audit, we adopted a hands-on approach. We worked closely with the CSC Steel team, providing practical support and addressing any arising challenges. This collaborative approach proved instrumental in their successful achievement of ISO 14064-1 verification.
